Study: Pregnancy Hormone Increases Brain Injury Recovery

The same hormone that plays a key role in pregnancy could also safely help people recover from traumatic brain injuries, health officials said.Emory University researchers said progesterone therapy led to a 50 percent reduction in the rate of death overall.In patients with moderate brain injuries, researchers said they saw a significant improvement in the number of patients who were able to make nearly full recoveries.
